A Pokémon Go glitch is freezing the game when trainers attempt to capture Pokémon at lures – Niantic Support is investigating

Not everything is happening perfectly as the Kalos Pokémon roll out in Pokémon Go. Some trainers who have updated the game for the Kalos Celebration event have had the unfortunate error of having the game freeze when attempting to capture Pokémon attracted by a lure. The glitch occurs when a player taps the Pokémon, and when that doesn’t work, and nothing happens, they have to reboot the game.

Niantic Support is investigating the error, so a solution should arise in good time. Niantic Support tweeted out, “Trainers, as a mitigation for a bug, Lures temporarily will not attract Pokémon originally discovered in Kalos. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. For more details and updates on this issue, please see our known issues page.”

If you use a lure during the Kalos Celebration, you won’t be attracting the Kalos region Pokémon. This way, even if your game freezes and you have to restart it, you won’t lose them when you reboot the game. When the problem is resolved, trainers should be able to use lures again as they traditionally could. In the meantime, if you’re looking for ways to increase the amount of Kalos Pokémon approaching you, try using an incense. It works similar to a Lure, except the Pokémon are drawn to your avatar’s location, not a PokéStop.
