After completing your saga in either the NCAA or the G-League, your MyPlayer avatar will be thrust into the NBA in NBA 2K21’s MyCareer mode. Playing through MyCareer can be a great opportunity to grind for VC and Badges, but to maximize your growth, you need to get into the starting lineup. Why? Getting in the starting lineup means more minutes on the court and more opportunities to rack up the VC and Badge progression.
But you might be wondering how to get your player in the starting lineup? Let’s go over what you should know.
How to get into the starting five
While there is no set requirement to become a starter in NBA 2K21, the key is to just play well. However, you should be averaging around 9-12 PPG and racking up a decent amount of assists (for guards and small forwards) and/or rebounds (for power forwards and center) for a stretch of 10-15 games to make it to the starting lineup. You will know when you get close when one of the team’s coaches approaches your MyPlayer in a cutscene and states that you just need to keep up the good play.
If you do that and make sure you participate in practice, since that helps boost your Badges, you should be able to make it into the starting lineup within your first 20 games for your NBA career.
