Genshin Impact, the wildly popular game from miHoYo, has won Google Play’s 2020 Best Game award.
Announced on the official Google Play Store website, the free-to-play action RPG has capped off an impressive end to the year by scooping the Google Play Best Game of 2020 gong. Genshin Impact also finished as a runner-up in the Users’ Choice Award category but, given that the game only released in late September, it’s a seriously impressive feat to be nominated for two — and to win one — award.
MiHoYo’s game has been downloaded by more than 10 million players on the Google Play store since launch. With ports also available on PlayStation , iOS, and PC, miHoYo’s action RPG title has a significant playerbase that will only grow when its Nintendo Switch port arrives in 2021.
Genshin Impact will hope to add to its trophy haul at 2020’s edition of The Game Awards on December 10. The title is up for selection in the Best Mobile and Best Role Playing categories at the event, which Geoff Keighley will host virtually for the first time due to the going Covid-19 pandemic.
Genshin Impact’s latest update — version 1.1 — arrived on November 11, and introduced new content including Wangsheng Funeral Parlor consultant Zhongli as a playable character. The 1.2 update is expected to drop on December 23, and patch the Dragonspine region and a new event into the game.
