Demon’s Souls remake is set to introduce some new modes but not additional areas to explore, according to modder Lance McDonald.
The original game has areas split into Archstones, and only five of them were available to players. That said, there’s a 6th Archstone in Demon’s Souls, without any way to access it as it is damaged without any explanation.
Fans have always fantasized about this Archstone being released as a DLC for the original game or opened up as part of a remake. Now that a remake is in development, though, that port is not being explored anyway.
According to the details shared by McDonald, there’s no 6th Archstone in the Demon’s Souls Remake, and the game has remained the same as it is being developed as a faithful re-imagination of the original. However, there’s a so-called Fractured Mode that is said to be a permadeath mode where if you lose a game, you have to restart the game from the beginning.
The Fractured Mode was not included in the original Demon’s Souls and indicates some of the tweaks players can anticipate from the remake.
Demon’s Souls Remake is coming on PS5’s launch date, November 12, and is developed by Bluepoint Games with Japan Studio. McDonald reports that the game has entered the Gold status on September 24 so, even though there’s not an official communication about that, there should not be any delay.
