World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is the latest chapter for the long-running MMO. The expansion adds new worlds, factions, and covenants to explore and join, each with their own perks. But first, you have to get there. Assuming you already bought the chapter, there are still a few more hoops to jump through before you can get to the new area.
Shadowlands is accessible based on level. Players need at least one level 50 character to get the quest. If you’re new to World of Warcraft, you can purchase a Shadowlands Character Boost from the store to accelerate the process or level up your character and enjoy the game first.
If you have a level 50 character, you’re ready for the Shadowlands quest. Logging in might be a struggle as the servers are full of eager players. We are playing an Alliance character; the process may be different for Horde players.
To start Shadowlands intro quest:
- Head to Stormwind
- Find High Inquisitor Whitemane. For Alliance players, she will appear at Stormwind Keep, in front of the fountain.
- Speak with her and accept the quest “Shadowlands: A Chilling Summons”
When we logged in, we were already in Stormwind. Upon logging in, a pop-up appeared, letting us know that Shadowlands was live and gave us the option to begin the quest. We’re not sure if this would trigger and allow you to take the quest if you were not already in the exact necessary location.
